Argentine futsal coach Sergio Mendelevich joins the call to kick “Israel” out of international sports
Sergio Daniel Mendelevich, former national coach of the Argentine futsal team, joined the Palestinian Sports Network’s call to expel “Israel” from FIFA and all international sports frameworks in a video on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
He noted that the World Cup is currently being conducted in the United States, which he labeled Israel’s “biggest accomplice,” while the occupation military is carrying out war crimes and killing children in Gaza and Lebanon. He also expressed his greetings to the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people for “standing up against the axis of evil, standing up against two genocidal powers like Israel and the United States of America,” in defense of humanity.
He expressed his hope that “the people of Palestine, once and for all, can decide their own future and live in peace, without bombs falling.”
Sergio Mendelevich is a prominent futsal manager and former player in Argentina, who previously coached the Argentina National Futsal Team and has directed notable clubs, including Huracán, Villa La Ñata, Monte Viejo, Los Andes, Ferro de Merlo, San Martin de Burzaco, and, now, Villa Rita Futsal.
The campaign launched by the Palestinian Sports Network seeks to mobilize the support of prominent athletes, coaches, players, and public figures from around the world in order to press the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and other international sports federations to expel Israel from international sporting competitions.
